Yoga is a practice of remaining open and available for our lessons both obvious and subtle, so that we can continue to show up in our lives truthfully. Here is a little bit about my yoga philosophy:
Our yoga practice helps us observe habitual patterns of thought and movement that inhibit efficient flow of energy (prana) through the body which contributes to discontent in our lives.
The practice of yoga will make you more mindful of what you put in your mental and physical space. The outcome is a more comfortable relationship with your body, your thoughts, and more authentic relationships.
The application of practice should be challenging enough to be enchanting, approachable enough to be sustainable, and frequent enough to be auspicious.
A consistent personal connection to practice is necessary for the individual to be successful in their practice.
A teacher is there as a guide handing down traditions, and offering experience to align and enhance. The student is required to do the work consistently, repeatedly, with the intention of being there.
I am a student of life who thrives on community and authentic connections. I am passionate about art, words, movement, and family time (including my cats!). I have been known to be persistent, loyal, creative, toting a cup of coffee and my home schooled kids around most of the day.
My yoga journey began in 2000 as a means to enhance my musical theater performance. Little did I know at the time that it would be the antidote to my anxiety, stress and PTSD. It would also lead me to cultivate the kind of joyful and connected life I thought only existed in fairytales.
My teaching style creates a practice that is sustainable in the moment and long term so that my students have something to commit to for a lifetime. My yoga classes are designed to move energy through breath, intention/meditation, and yoga postures; they are challenging but possible for all levels.
I use several modalities to help my soulmate students over come the big obstacles in their lives so that they can remain true to themselves and carve out a life that feel fulfilling and meaningful to them despite the highs and lows. I am a Certified Hypnotherapist (CHt) and Registered Yoga Teacher (E-RYT 500) who has a passion for anatomy and physiology, neuroscience, movement and JOY!
